Apple has started to deliver OS X Lion promo materials to its stores, which suggests that the launch date should indeed be very close. One of the Euronics (third party Italian retail Store at the Mongolfiera shopping mall) employee was kind enough to snap and slip a shot of a signage containing new marketing campaign materials mentioning – “OS X Lion” and touting new features such as multi-touch gestures, Launchpad and Mission Control.

Reportedly, employees at Euronics have set up the promotional sales material well in advance and that the demo computers at retail outlet are not updated to OS X 10.6.8, which is a mandate for smooth transition. The systems are still running 10.6.6.

Dutch retail chain Dixons installed banners (see the image below) which shows that OS X Lion purchases can be made against standard App Store gift cards worth $29.99 which can then be redeemed later.

The promo material doesn’t definitely confirm the rumored 20th July launch, it’s about as good as we’re going to get at this point. Multiple reports emerged few hours back that Apple Retail stores have already begun receiving final version of OS X 10.7 Lion and some of the solid sources confirmed that Lion has been installed at some of the Apple Stores and AppleCare centers.

Most likely new Thunderbolt-equipped MacBook Airs models on OS X Lion will begin this Wednesday, in case the final copy of Lion is shipped today.
